Since January, we’ve been fully focused on shaping our roadmap and taking the first steps toward the very first Alpine Hub. A new start-up, born from our love for the mountains and a belief we see more and more around us: sustainable strength and mental resilience aren’t a luxury, they’re the foundation for staying fit and strong for the long run.Whether you’re training for trail running, a hut-to-hut trek, mountaineering, a demanding mountain hike, or preparing for your winter sports season (skiing or snowboarding).
The past few months haven’t been about “making noise,” but about building smart, getting crystal clear on what we’re creating, for whom, and why. That process is exactly where we are today.
Where are we now?
1) Foundation first, polish later
We deliberately chose a first phase focused on the core: vision, mission, target audience and positioning. Not because it’s the most visible work, but because it determines whether Alpine Hub will truly be the right thing and truly resonate.
Our goal was clear: to develop a concept for people who are looking for more than fitness alone. People who train for adventure. Who balance busy lives with ambition. And who don’t just want to start they want to keep going. With longevity in mind: performing sustainably without losing sight of the long term.
2) Validation: listen, test, refine
Alongside outlining the first concept directions, we started a broad validation round. We’re sending surveys, having conversations (with our audience and potential partners), sharing early sketches, listening closely and refining as we go.
We can’t share everything just yet (on purpose 😉), but we can say this: the process is helping us shape Alpine Hub into something that’s not just “nice,” but genuinely relevant and valuable for people who want to prepare intentionally for mountain sports and outdoor goals.
3) The program is taking shape:
Mountain fitness & mountain spirit
Behind the scenes, we’re already deep into developing the first training and development program. It all revolves around one central idea:
A body that can carry your ambitions, in the mountains, in your work, and in life.
We’re building an approach that combines goal-driven physical and mental training with serious attention to recovery, load management and resilience. Think smart progression in strength, mobility and endurance for:
- (ultra) trail running and off-road running
- mountain hiking and trekking (including hut-to-hut routes)
- mountaineering and summit climbs
- winter sports preparation (skiing / snowboarding / cross-country skiing)
- and more broadly: outdoor performance, and staying strong in everyday life
What this will look like - and especially how we’ll make it truly practical and doable within busy schedules - we’ll share step by step soon. We’re designing something that doesn’t only make sense on paper, but that you can actually stick with in real life: smart, focused, and built around recovery and longevity. For now, we’re keeping it exciting, but we’re building on solid ground.
Stepping out of the bubble: NKBV Mountain Sports Day (March 8)
As part of our process, we attended NKBV Mountain Sports Day on March 8. Not to “learn how it’s done,” but to feel what’s alive: what are people looking for? What keeps coming up? What questions return again and again?

It was a great reality check: the world of mountain sports is growing, and there’s a strong need for inspiration, knowledge and guidance not only for climbing and mountaineering, but also for hikes, trail running and winter sports. And honestly: it was simply inspiring to hear speakers like Noor van der Veen, Siebe Vanhee, Lynn Hill and Dani Arnold live.

Stories that show how powerful it is to focus on the process and the goal step by step, with discipline and trust. And once again, it confirmed something we strongly believe: in the end, it’s about a prepared body and a prepared mind. By learning your own limits, you don’t just build a stronger physical base, you build real mental strength. Always with respect for the mountains, and for your fellow mountain athletes.

The biggest takeaway for anyone who’s still doubting: do you have a dream or a goal? Start with the first step. And if you’re not sure how to do that yet we’d love to think along with you at Alpine Hub.
What are the next steps?
In the coming period, we’ll continue on three tracks:
1) Refining our offering
We’re processing insights from the first round, sharpening focus, and building out the first programs. With extra attention to a combination that matters to us: performance + longevity. Getting stronger and, even more importantly, staying strong.
2) Community & engagement
We don’t want to build Alpine Hub for people, but with people a community that inspires and activates one another. That’s why we’ll keep involving our network and create ways for interested people to connect, without giving everything away just yet.
3) Location: searching for our first basecamp in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug region
And then a very concrete step: we’re actively looking for a suitable location for the first Alpine Hub in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug region, ideally close to the forest.
Do you know a place that’s currently vacant or becoming available soon — and that fits (or could be adapted to) a boutique concept focused on trail running, mountain sports, outdoor performance and recovery? Please let us know. We’d love to hear from you.
Final note
Alpine Hub is in development and that’s exactly what it should be right now: a concept that’s growing, sharpening, and taking shape.
We’re building carefully, but with real determination. With ambition. With attention. And with the mountains as our source of inspiration.
